so I have been living in the oak park apts. a little over a year. My place has been broken into, My neighbors are constantly arguing, and it non - stop traffic. My sink has been broken since Ive moved in. My furnace has been fixed 2 times. Since my place has been broken into I asked could I get another lock on my door, it would cost me $150 to do so. $400 just to transfer into another apt. Its like I'm uncomfortable in my own home. Home is where you are suppose to be able to relax. I have walked out my apartment to see someone had broken down a cigar in front of my door in the hallway. Its not even July and they are already popping fire crackers. I overheard someone even shooting a gun just outside my window. I feel unsafe. I honestly don't believe that the cameras around the apartment complex even works. They are re-paving the roads but honestly this is not a good place to live if you are a single young woman to live. The only thing I will say is that the staff are nice ( who Ive been in contact with ) and they try to be as helpful as possible. I just wish they would be a bit more understanding with trying to move.

If you are white you do not want to live here. I lived here a couple of years and had to leave because I was severely beaten and robbed in the parking lot getting home from work. Management is kind, but has no control over the complex. The complex itself has over 700 units and the gates are broken allowing anyone in the complex. Tow trucks come through nearly every night looking for repossessions. This is a very dangerous place filled with crime and gunfire nearly every night. I came home one night to a robbery in progress and the police would not allow me in my building until the goods were secured. If you are a white man or woman don't even think about it, much too dangerous.

The only reason there is even one star in this rating is because the site won't let me post without at least one. My apartment was burglarized and shortly afterwards, I learned from management that their maintenance crew was terminated. Just a month prior, a woman's door had been kicked in and she was murdered in front of her son. And not too much later after my apartment was broken into, a police officer was dragged the length of a football field by a car within the complex for a routine traffic stop. Taking this - and the fact that detectives deduced I had been targeted as a single female at the time - into consideration, I communicated to management that I no longer felt safe living there. I asked about relocating to another one of the many properties owned by the same company, Mills Properties. Their solution was to move me to another building shortly down the way where I would essentially be entering and exiting on the exact same street as my burglarized apartment. Management was cold and lacked compassion, even after I had been an ideal tenant. They charged me a $900 early termination fee even though I was only six months shy of my lease term ending - a fee that increased to over $1600 and they never would provide me with an itemized list of why the charges increased. This apartment complex is run by Mills Properties and when I reached out to them, they sent me right back to management at Oak Park. I don't think I ever felt so dismissed and disregarded as a person in my life. It was all very difficult to process, especially while dealing with my life having been turned upside down, because I never stayed in that apartment again after that happened. The management team at Oak Park Apartments and Mills Properties do not care about their tenants. Don't be fooled by their feigned professionalism. It's all an act and as a resident there, you will be nothing more than a dollar sign. I paid them every penny, but it took some time. The residual affect of having my home and personal belongings rifled through by ill-willed strangers still lingers and I am still bothered that not one person at Oak Park Apartments or Mills Properties cared about me, my safety, or the effect that the situation had on my life at that time. I wasn't trying to get over, I wasn't trying to get out of paying anything – I was trying to find a solution to transitioning to somewhere that I could feel safe and not be afraid. Now, I will do everything I can to warn others about how they really treat people.

Uncomfortable

READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I I signed a 1 year lease here and when I first moved in the stove was broke, mind u I pay for gas ,roaches was every where. It was so bad I had to bomb the place with roach infestation killer . I had a service request put out for the A/C because the air didn't work also and my electric bill was running up. My mailbox keys stop working after a month of me being there, so I had ask for new ones and still didn't get in my mailbox and it's July now . They gave me three sets of the wrong keys. I locked my house keys twice In the apartment and I called during normal business hours and they said that they didn't have keys to get in but able to get in to spray or try and fix the oven after telling me they was giving me a new stove. They moved all of my stuff out without notifying of eviction even though I was behind I was still making payments and it wasn't 30 days notice on the door . I would recommend not moving here not to mention the noise above me . Everyday sound like some kid was bouncing a ball in the apartment above me all day when I was off. Emergency maintenance said they only come out for fires which doesn't make sense , I would immediately call the fire department to put out the fire not the leasing office. DONT MOVE HERE WORST PLACE TO MOVE . I am currently in progress of suing this place don't move here look for other options . BYPASS THIS APARTMENT

Unprofessional office manager, unorganized office, they try to get over my double charging you late fees even tho the fine print says something else. Even tho they yave 3 pools only 2 b open for use and you can only take 2 visitors with you thats not on the lease even they are kids. They suck!!!
