Needless to say, I was very upset after my experience with this business and would not recommend anyone take their pet to be groomed by Marigrace. I took our puppy to Petsmart two days later, and he was groomed with no issues at all.
My mom tried to explain to Marigrace that due to our puppy’s breed that he needed to be sprayed with water before combing or brushing and the deshedding combs should not be used on Havanese. Marigrace would not listen to my mom and kept saying all she could do is shave him or otherwise she was going to make him cry like that for four hours. My mom ended up taking him home and not paying for any services because she was afraid Marigrace was going to mistreat my puppy further.
Upon meeting the owner, Marigrace, she was very rude and confrontational toward my mother and my puppy. Marigrace implied that I had some how ruined his coat and that she had to shave him down completely because his fur was matted. I would like to note that he was not matted whatsoever and was groomed perfectly fine by another business two days later. Marigrace even stuck a comb into his leg and made him yelp/cry loudly two different times.
I called Marigrace after finding out what had happened. I received the same confrontational tone on the phone that my mother did in the store when I tried speaking with her about what had happened. Marigrace would not apologize whatsoever and asked me if I was done talking yet. When I was not finished speaking, Marigrace hung up on me.
I had a very negative experience with Southpaw Dog Grooming. My mom took our 6-month old puppy in to be groomed after a friend recommended we take him there.
