I have mixed feelings on this hospital (we have been to 7 in the last year and I was very disappointed). My son went to St. Louis Children's hospital in August 2017. I would rate his doctor T.S. Park 5 out of 5- he is fabulous, the surgery went well, and I cannot thank him enough. The hospital however was a different story. Parents staying with their children (I was there for a week for this procedure- live 6 hours away) had to pay for their meals. Usually at most hospitals one parent gets to eat if they are staying. Also, we had to stay in the same room as another family. This procedure was painful and required much rest. So, to have a screaming child all night in the same room as us did not allow anyone to get sleep or privacy. Also, the other person staying in the room (A grandmother with a child) told me that the boys mother was a heroin addict with anger issues. She was in and out of the room. Lovely. While the nurses were friendly they were very distracted. I had to go out of the room to ask for things as the call light was ignored a few times and each time I walked by EVERY nurse was on their phone texting or on facebook. While this facility has some nice features (Rooftop Garden and cool play room) the cafeteria was a mess and one morning the trash cans were piled so high I didn't know where to put my trash. Same goes for the room- I never saw a cleaning person in there once. They do not have a coffee shop or place to go eat besides the cafeteria. You have to walk down the street, which isn't in the best neighborhood. I was told there are nice hotels to stay at, but I was by myself with my two year old child, who was scared and in pain? I couldn't leave him. I am pretty disappointed in this hospital and hope things change with their renovation in the future.
The best hospital! All staff is amazing and so kind. Special shout out to The Heart Center and the wonderful doctors and nurses. Especially Dr. E
We travel from Oregon and have worked with Dr. Moore, Dr. Mackinnon, and Dr. Snyder-Warwick. We have always received the best care here and all of our needs are always taken care of. l wouldn’t take my son anywhere else.
I could go on and have 1.5 pages worth. Just very disappointed because of how excellent this hospital used to be.
This hospital has definitely taken a turn for the worse. What used to be a top-notch facility is now below average, at best. A few examples are: 1. Extremely dirty room for our son to stay in. Sticky floor, sticky hand guards on bed, and dirty linen from previous patient. 2. Miscommunication between doctors, causing miscommunication to us. 3. Our child never saw a child life specialist. 4. Our son was never cleaned (We did this) even after multiple accidents in his bed. 5. Requested meal vouchers 2 times and never received feedback about this request.
The Wait time was ridiculous. The Nurses and doctors were decent. Arrived at 12:26AM for a simple 104.6 fever with a cough my daughter had and we got a hospital room finally at 2:10am. Left at 3:42AM. I guess my real complaint is the security... It really bothers me.
TSA type security? Not very civilized for a childrens hospital. Why would you put a hospital in gang territory? ...
