Thus, if you want to find a cost-efficient place, Manor may be a good place to rent from. If you desire to have a landlord that you can trust and have a good relationship with, all of our experiences over the course of two years and 6 roommates, we would not suggest renting from Manor.
At no point did I nor roommate's request the columns be replaced. That is a bald faced untruth. It's possible that the request came from a city inspector or neighbors not pleased with the optics or safety of said columns. Hard to say. I wish I could say that we are at fault for not understanding the complex world of terra cotta tiles and masonry...alas, we did not make the request and can't speak to the situation. Additionally, outside of my wife and The Vine for takeout, I call nobody weekly. Re: the columns, there were possibly annual calls (that would mean two). Not sure that constitutes "weekly"...I'll let you decide.

I have been renting an apartment from Manor Real estate for nearly two years now and have never had an issue. The office staff has always been professional and courteous, and maintenance issues have always been addressed promptly and resolved with minimal disruption to my daily life. I give them 5 stars because I can't imagine how they could be doing a better job.
Additionally, when contacting Don about repairs to a property he simply replies with a number to call. You are then left to schedule with the plumbing, a/c, etc. folk. I especially enjoyed the time that Don accused me to lying to him, said that I was giving a bull*&t excuse then proceeded to hangup on me. Was neither kind nor professional.
Don is correct that he would come over and handle light bulbs, replace batteries in the remote, etc. It was appreciated to have him do this as the ceiling fans would often stop working. Re: his work order comment: "Mike disregarded this suggestion each time..."...fiction.
I would like to take a second to give a review to Manor Real Estate. I have had the pleasure of doing business with Manor Real Estate for over 3 years now. The group of real estate agents at this company is a true pleasure of dealing with.
The owner saw fit to reply with untrue statements. If he wrote, "I disagree with Mike and his roommates conclusions. Manor is a great place to rent from...etc." I would not be responding, alas. It's good that insulation will be put on the 3rd floor. It's a good step to addressing what would surely be a problem for the next tenant.
Re: the check...would've been nice for the explanation not to be vetted out on a public Google review but during the aforementioned phone call...but here we are. Nothing of that was discussed. Glad that the cursing and hangup was not denied. It was truly a unique experience for me.
After living at 3515 Halliday Ave. for two years, I can, in clear conscience, tell someone not to rent from Don Cherry and Manor Real Estate. The rest of the people at Manor were generally pleasant to work with. Don acted pleasant until questions started being asked concerning insulation. He refused to insulate the attic of our property, thus the 3rd floor was incredibly difficult to both cool and heat. Every time the issue was brought up Don proceeded to remind us of 1) how much he does for us and 2) that he would let us out of our lease at any point...which is not what we were asking for. He claimed that he could not spend $500 to insulate the attic due to fixing the deteriorating front porch columns...which were never fixed. Rather, unsightly column supports were placed to prevent collapse.
Don offered us out of our lease when we brought up insulation problems. Seemed that what was communicated was, "You all are bringing up issues, it is not financially advantageous for me to do anything about it...leave if you want." A safe assumption for us to make. We could be wrong as we do not know Don's inner thoughts. Nonetheless, Don is completely within his right to offer a way out of our lease. Likewise, it was within our rights to bring up issues when needed.
Congrats if you have made it all the way through this updated review. As stated at the beginning, writing an updated review would not of been necessary had the response been faithful to actual events in space and time. I truly am sure that people have had a great experience with Manor Real Estate. Generally speaking, no business stays around for so long without having some satisfied customers. As you may deduce, our experience was poor and we would not suggest renting from them.
The Manor Real Estate team was always prompt in responding to my needs. I’m glad to have rented with them.
The A/C unit in 3515 mentioned in another review might seem like a small thing, but for those of us who lived on the top floor of 3515 Halliday during 100 degree summers it was anything but insignificant. To spend more than 30 mins up there between Mid June - Mid Aug, 11am - 9pm was seriously uncomfortable because of the intense heat. In this context, you can imagine how demoralizing it was to be made to feel as if we, the tenants, were the ones being particular and awkward when we reached out for a solution. This wasn’t fixed for the given reason, “I am already fixing the front porch, which is very expensive.” Again, certainly not at our request, nor was it ever completed. My experience with Don wasn’t all bad by any means, so thank you for the times you did help us. However, I do want to clarify the A/C situation, which wasn’t/isn't just an opportunity for a quick google review witch hunt, but something that made life quite difficult for those summer months.
I have done work with Ben Cherry, Don Cherry and Jeanette Bell. I know that the care that they have for every customer and vendor is like no other. They put there clients first to make sure they are getting the best on every property. Do not hesitate to do business with Manor Real Estate. I know from experience that they will be loyal, honest, and caring on any questions real estate you may have. Thank you Manor Real Estate for everything.
And if you are looking at the 3515 Halliday property, make sure to ask about insulation in the attic...and exactly when the columns are going to be fixed.
