This centrally downtown located hotel is within 4-8 blocks of downtown St Louis attractions. Located across from the convention center there are plenty of restaurant and bars within 2-3 blocks. The rooms are modern appointed with couches vs chairs, a nice alternative. There is valet parking available. Breakfast buffet can be purchased and is decent choice but there are great choices nearby. Recommendation: do not order room service, it's not your typical white cloth service. What you see to purchase in the lobby is what you'll get as well as any food you order will come from neighboring restaurants either cellophane wrapped or reheated for you. Not your typical Marriott Sodexo food experience. There's a grocery around the corner if you want to avoid $4 bottle of water, milk or snack.
I was there Thanksgiving week, and the Front Desk staff said that the hotel was mostly unoccupied -- which was the reason that the Concierge Lounge was closed. To offset the Concierge Lounge, they gave me a coupon for a buffet breakfast -- but, in the morning, there was no buffet breakfast (again, because of low occupancy). I was able to order off the menu, but that's a longer process. The real issue, though, is that I was supposedly given an 'upgraded' room (I'm Lifetime Platinum at Marriott), but the upgraded room did not have a view of the Arch. So, they apparently have a LOT of empty rooms (remember, they had very low occupancy that week), but couldn't give a Platinum Premier member a view of the Arch? Even aside from the view, or lack of view, I could not tell what was 'upgraded' about the room; it seemed like a pretty basic hotel room. Overall, not what I expect from Marriott.
Marriott did a nice job renovating this older property. Rooms are spacious, modern, and clean. The location is great in downtown St. Louis. The breakfast buffet contains a good variety, although the price is up there if you aren't comped due to status. Parking is in a detached garage but isn't really inconvenient (and there's valet parking for $10 more per day if you so choose). I will stay here again next time I'm in St. Louis.

The lobby bar is a nice reprieve from your day working or touring.
The hotel is beautifully renovated. Our room was spacious and elegantly modern with lots of natural light. The breakfast buffet with omelet bar was definitely a high point. Staff are friendly and helpful. I do wish Marriott would move away from the two double beds and go with two queens, though.
