Very good price! Big room (as in could have been two)! Small bathroom. Loved views. Felt upscale with low price. Hotel obviously aging.
Great value. The hotel is an older property, built sometime in the tos I'm guessing, and last updated in the 80s or 90s. So if what you like is ultra modern, ultra clean perfection then you will not like City Place. But if you don't mind some history, a little peeling paint on the shower ceiling... it's an amazing value for a superb location.
The hotel being downtown was convenient, as it was close to everything & easy to access. The room, on the other hand, was pretty terrible. The carpet is dingy, and the room smelled like mildew & bleach. Not a terrible smell, but if I had known I would've stayed somewhere else. The service was decent - adequate, but not overly friendly or eager to help. The phone in the room didn't work, and there was only one towel... Even though the room had to beds! Had to pay to park, and I always dislike that... The only saving grace really was the view, which was pretty great. We could see the Gateway Arch up close & personal from our balcony, and that was really nice.
Free gym for guests. Offers restaurant type food for all three major meals. Very close to the Arch, right off forth in the downtown area. Pool and parking in site. No mini fridge or microwave in room. Great view of the stadium, Arch and downtown from our floor (was floor 20+) without balcony. Great customer service! Very pleased.
The only sour note was at check in when my mother waited rather a long time in line while they checked in others who came after her. The 1st woman told her rather rudely that she couldn't find our reservation and asked her to stand aside and wait for the manager. Once all other people were checked in, the manager finally spoke to my mother and found the reservation immediately. My mother and I couldn't help but wonder if we were the wrong skin color, given that we were the only white people in the room at the time. Other than that one experience, our stay was lovely.
This hotel is actually going by City Place currently. It's going through a major renovation currently. The staff are still working out some bugs but are super friendly and accommodating. The roof top pool and observatory look directly at the Gateway Arch and surrounding park. Caprice at the front desk is absolutely wonderful and hooked us up with a terrific room with a view. Definitely check out the City Place. As it goes through its renovation it promises to be one really cool hotel.
We booked a 2 queen beds + pull out sleeper sofa suite and it was HUGE! The room was clean and had a pleasant view of the river and downtown. I liked the wrought iron, granite topped sink, I thought it was pretty. And I also appreciated that the toilet was slightly angled out into the room creating more room in a small space.
We stayed for a week and during that time I requested housekeeping to not clean our room daily. But each time I asked for new towels or more toilet paper it was delivered promptly and the housekeepers were friendly and polite.
