We enjoyed this St. Louis BBQ spot. It was a little far off the interstate, but worth the detour. We are pulling a travel trailer, so stopping into a BBQ joint was going to be a parking concern for us. We chose this spot and I'm glad we did. There is an out-of-business gas station/auto shop next door for easy camper parking.
Sugarfire has the absolute best, fall off the bone ribs and pulled pork. The Carolina pulled pork sandwich is huge and delicious! I love their variety of old fashioned sodas too. Regardless of what you order, you will love it, you can't go wrong with any of their meats!
Beef brisket was flavorful but a little dry. The pulled pork was dry. The fries were excellent and the basket we got was a generous amount. The bathroom was grungy, with greasy floors and a jammed paper towel dispenser. This is a "stand in line to get your food" place, which I don't like, but I didn't mark them down for it as I know it's a common style and must be what some people like. The meat was not nearly hot enough, and was hardly even warm by the time we had our seat and were actually eating. The one staff I interacted with was very friendly.
If I had to do it again, I would have gotten a kids meal for myself. It was just so much food. We ended up with a lot of leftovers because they just give you that much food! I also would have started out with one of their cool homemade sodas. The cherry soda was fabulous! Overall, I would go back but change my order a little bit.
I was in St Louis on business and needed a place for dinner. A co-worker suggested Sugarfire along with some other places, and I'm so glad I decided on Sugarfire. The BBQ is top notch I really enjoyed everything I tried. Brisket, pulled pork, and ribs along with an order of fries and coleslaw. I highly recommend giving them a try. You won't be disappointed unless you don't like BBQ that is.
The food is so flavorful! The service is exceptional! There is absolutely no place like Sugarfire! Thank you for a wonderful food experience! You have earned my repeat business!
Now for the food. This restaurant serves you cafeteria style, so you get a tray and move down the line until you are done. The meals come with SO much food. I will say the mac n cheese is amazing, the coleslaw was average, and my husband hated the potato salad. We also got fries with the kids meal (which serves a full size sandwich, not a slider). The fries were definitely not good at all. So don't bother with the fries or the potato salad. Also, don't expect southern-style sweet tea here either. If you like a half sweet, half unsweet tea, you will like their sweet tea. Otherwise, the ribs were great and the pulled pork was good too. They had a variety of sauces, all of which were good.
