My husband and I had our wedding and reception at the Thaxton on 5/6/17. The day could not have gone more smoothly and that is due largely in part to the wonderful staff at the Thaxton. During the planning phase, I was blown away with how organized Peter (the owner) was. He knew exactly how our evening would flow the best and made great suggestions based on our needs. He was also always extremely responsive and helpful via email during this time. He was present to lead our rehearsal at the venue the day before the event, which as a nervous bride, put my mind at ease that everything was under control. On the day, we were able to access the venue early to take photographs, which was ideal due to our timeline. Throughout the evening him and his staff, notably Mad Dog, lead the evening flawlessly. Mad Dog's attention to detail was remarkable, including ensuring my husband and I were happy and being taken care of throughout the evening. We received nothing but praise from our guests on their experience at our event. The venue is absolutely unique and gorgeous. Our photos came out amazing. I could not be more happy with our experience here and would absolutely recommend this venue for not only weddings, but any larger event. We cannot begin to express our thanks to the venue staff!
Awful experience. Very unprofessional bar. We brought a group of friends for a 30th birthday party, and chose the place because of the typically cool and low key atmosphere with live music. We were charged cover and went in to discover the atmosphere was more of club on this night and wasn't what we were looking for on this particular evening. The bouncer was very rude to us and would not refund our cover charge after walking directly back out the door. He could have chosen to be courtious and get our cover the next time we come, instead he put a big damper on our evening and lost any opportunity for future business.
We walked in spending 5 per person with the password. We came in expecting a speak easy this was completely the opposite, it had a club environment. We turned around asked the door man if there was any way we could have a refund he was not friendly about it, he had someone smoking next to him that was making comments I'm not sure what that was about. I will not be coming back and I will make sure to share my experience. I'm just disappointed with the entire experience and customer service.
The Thaxton won my heart before I ever set foot in the door. Our wedding was vintage with red & black and after actually seeing the space I knew it was perfect. It's 30's-40's vintage chic AND it has a speakeasy downstairs which was great for the guys before the ceremony (This place is a vintage dream). Peter & his staff are just amazing too. Professional, flexible, super nice & well, just fantastic. There aren't enough words to express how much I love this space & the staff. Thank you Peter, you & your staff made our wedding a beautiful dream come true. ♡
The speakeasy was the coolest! Really fun atmosphere, friendly bartenders, good music, and reasonably priced drinks. They light one cocktail on fire.
