Located in West St. Louis I saw this was the top attraction and now I know why. The exhibits are mostly theme based and you get that "disney" feel. Buy the train ticket and ride..it's an all day ticket and we used it 4 different times just for the fun of it! You'll pay for parking but zoo is free. The cafe is amazing...lots of selections of good food and tasted great too. Plan on half a day here to take it all in. We were there during the day but the Boo at the Zoo decorations are two thumbs up amazing.
I'm not a Zoo fan as I believe animal should be in the wild but I enjoyed my time there. A lot of species are near extinct and I believe this Zoo could have a role in preserving some of them. The Zoo is clean and well maintain and have a lot of species. Free entrance
WOW! This place is simply amazing! This Zoo is amazingly well maintained. The number of animals here is mind boggling. They seem to do a good job of creating enjoyable spaces for the animals. The Polar Bear and Penguins areas are very very well done. It's wonderful that this place is free! Consider making a donation after your visit.
We love this zoo! The penguin exhibit and the sea lion underwater tunnel were memories I'll have for a lifetime!! I could have sat there for hours watching and taking pictures. The area surrounding the zoo is beautiful this time of year with the leaves changing and it happened to be a perfect temperature to be outside. The best part....It's FREE!! My husband and I went by ourselves, without our kids, and I'm very glad we did! Next time we'll bring the kids back to experience St Louis.

Fabulous zoo. It's amazing this place is free. I've been to the Brookfield and San Diego zoos and while each have their pros and cons, this place is free and high caliber. I recommend it to anyone visiting. The penguins are a particular highlight.
