A really cool historic site! Scott Joplin was a great composer of the ragtime era. Quite a prodigy, he was known to write his music out without playing it first! If you pay for the tour, you may get to hear some of his music on a player piano. Street parking is readily available and usually a safe bet during open hours.
One of St Louis' hidden treasures. The docents are most knowledgeable and be sure to browse the book titles in the gift shop area. You'll find things there unseen elsewhere. The Rosebud Café is an intimate spot for private parties too large for most homes & too small for a hotel. Plus you can use your own caterer.
The player piano at the end of the tour is a perfect aural connection to the information learned
Interesting and well maintained piece of history. Antique player piano available to play from an extensive collection of Scott Joplin music.
Not on par with the Frederick Douglass's Cedar Hill or Maggie L. Walker's house in Richmond but worth the time nonetheless. Great knowledgeable staff, I just wish more things were actually Joplin's and not period pieces. I still give it Four stars.
