My only complaint with the store is the organization - it's sort of hard to tell what the organizational scheme is, and on occasion I have a hard time finding products I know that the store carries. Recently I was looking for something that I had previously bought at UP, and neither I nor the employees could find it (I don't mean that as a complaint against the employees - the folks at UP are always great). I returned another time and stumbled across it in a completely unexpected place I never would have thought to look. This can be frustrating.
I researched this store and then called because I'm part of a non-profit organization that specializes in organic and sustainable solutions. I was telling them about our program and how we would be traveling to Malawi in Africa February 2018. Since they also carry organic products and have some pretty awesome reviews, I thought they would be helpful with helping us with our fundraising goals. We usually stand outside with a table explaining our efforts and research, also asking for donations. Unfortunately the person who answered told me they don't carry organic products, I would've been fine with this answer if I hadn't already done research on the store, but since they decided to blatantly lie instead of saying they weren't interested or at least a simple no, I feel like I need to give them a review on how they handle potential business and customers. We work with many different stores and it's disappointing when the integrity of a business is questionable because they just don't feel like interacting with people who ask questions about their mission or what they do. I think this store should be more cognizant of other business and organizations that are calling to potentially partner with them and promote them as well. It definitely changed my perspective about visiting this place and supporting them.
Great place to find a wide variety of different food. You can find things that are interesting to try. They have a restaurant inside the store. The deli department, you can buy fresh cooked sandwiches to go with soup or chips. The area is GOOD for the Wash U students. It's a nice place to walk and discover in the Loop. You can go and order you something to eat and shop at the same time. The staff will try to have it ready, when you get done. I always go and get "Champagne Cheddar" from the deli, it's great!!!
Great place for international foods. If you are looking for that hard to find fix this is a good place to start.
I live in the neighborhood and I'm grateful to have a grocery store within walking distance that has a better variety of international/imported foods than Schnucks. I go to UP almost once a week, and I love their sushi happy hour and prepared foods!
They have a lot in terms of international food, but sometimes they don't have basic produce or fresh bread! Great if you're looking for a few ingredients you can't find in every supermarket but I wouldn't come here for regular groceries.
