This place used to be so great. The food has taken a major nose dive lately. It is now more pretentious and still expensive. But the quality is way down, the portions are smaller, and then menu is shorter. Interesting dishes have been removed. I was served a half raw piece of salmon on my last visit. I assume they changed chefs recently. What a difference. How quickly amazing can become terrible. Given it two chances since the menu change. Both were disappointing.
Very much enjoyed my Moroccan chicken lunch here at Cafe Osage. They didn't have any gluten-free bread options, which was a bummer, but the entree I chose was still delicious! It tasted really fresh and I would definitely have it again!
All that being said, they still have good coffee and it's a nice setting. Lots to look at while you wait for your table to be ready. The connected Bowood farms is probably the most interesting garden center in St Louis.
Not a "real" restaurant...sort of a hobby project run half-assedly, when someone feels like it.
Food, if you manage to get any, is solidly average. It's better than Uncle Bill's, but it's not "good".
Cafe Osage rates a big plus. It was clean. Personell were attentive and helpful. We were 4 adults and two children. We stayed and talked, no one made us feel bad for staying. Oh, the food, we all ordered some ting different and every one of us thought our s was the best. I will go there again.
Hours stated are...suggestions. Arrive before noon if you want any hope of eating. Menu online is as representative of actuality as the stated hours.
My favorite brunch spot, I always have a great experience. Great drinks and fresh food with local greens. The Bloody Mary’s are some of the best I’ve seen anywhere. Sometimes the wait can be long but it’s never annoying because it’s so pleasant to look around the plant store while you wait. There is also always a cat roaming around the store. If you don’t want to wait, be sure to call a day ahead as they don’t take same-day reservations on the weekend.
