I am disgusted by the lack of morals, respect, and integrity this salon gives to it's patrons and to themselves. I booked an appointment for Saturday , September 16th, @ 10am for make-up application and lashes more than 6 weeks ago for a wedding I would be attending in downtown St. louis. The woman who booked the appointment was kind with words, and assured me I would be glowing. On Thursday while driving in from Florida, I called the salon at least 4 times, (no answer, only a recording). I thought that's ok, they are busy and I will wait for the courtesy call on Friday to reconfirm my appointment. While running errands all day Friday, again I attempted to call them, (no answer). By late afternoon I started calling other salons in the area to get a backup appointment. The closest I finally found was in Fairview heights Illinois, not my ideal location, but only 20 minutes away. So Ladies, while looking for that place on your special day for hair and makeup or any other occasion that is most important to you.......Do yourselves a favor and not trust this salon to be that place !
Overall, I'm disappointed a little. I spent $70 and I expected more from such a high rated salon downtown. I'm not sure if I'll give them another chance or not. The girls there were fun, bright, and I loved their sense of humor. Like I said, maybe I just caught the technician I had on a bad day.
For the manicure I wasn't too impressed. She didn't put as thick of a coat on as I would have liked. She put the base color on once (which I realized turned out uneven when I got out of the salon) and then two coats of sparkle. She said "with the coats I just wanted to warn you that it probably won't last a week." I wish I was told that before she completed them. Especially since gel nails should last at least two weeks. She also put oil on my nails/cuticles and then never used lotion for the mani massage. I was at her station picking the cotton off my nails and she didn't offer to clean it up. She just kind of laughed and asked "cotton on the nails?" I left with my hands oily and felt kind of gross from it.
Also, it's been four days since my appointment and my nails on both my toes and fingers are chipping off.
I had a lovely gel manicure here, Deshawn (sorry if I spelt that wrong!) did a great job and was wonderful to talk to. Definitely recommend!
For the first time since moving downtown over a year ago, I finally had a chance to try this salon out. It's a block away and has amazing review, going here was a no-brainer, so I thought. I walked in to make an appointment out of convenience, I didn't need a service immediately or anything, (note there's a walk-ins welcome sign on the door) and I was greeted with, "Sorry we are booked up today," after waiting a couple minutes for the stylist to finish up what sounded like a personal phone call. There were two other stylists working on clients, she had an empty chair, no one waiting, and one woman finishing up a pedicure. I told her I wanted to make an appointment for a mani pedi for later that day or the next and without looking at anything she said they had no openings for anything until Saturday morning. I told her I was fine and went to the 2star rated salon down the street, was taken within 15 minutes and got a great gel mani pedi for $10 less than what this salon charges. I doubt I'm going to ever actually get a service done here because there are plenty of other salons who know what customer service is.
I'm new to the area. I live down the street from this place and was excited that I lived so close to a high rated salon. I received a pedicure and a gel mani. The salon itself is beautiful. Small and very clean. However, my technician did drop a few tools on the ground. I was looking at my phone at the time, but I could still see her. I saw her look up at me and then she continued to used the tools that she dropped on my feet. She was a complete sweetheart, but I didn't get a professional vibe from her. Maybe she was having an off day. She also didn't remove all my callus on the bottom of my feet, which is something I really look for in a pedicure. Overall the pedicure was good.
Mary Alice is fantastic!! They are all very professional, courteous, and clean. It was a last minute thought and she exceeded my expectations!!
