I have been stopping in this gallery from time to time for ten years or more, mostly to look but occasionally to buy. It has a nice range and variety of items, including both art and jewelry, in many different media and at many different prices. It features the work of many different artists, mostly local. I think that over the years I have probably purchased a dozen or more pieces of jewelry for my daughter, wife, and friends, and almost as many pieces of art, primarily ceramic. One of the larger room is dedicated to a single artist, which changes with a new installation every month or two. Componere just increased its size by a third, adding a fourth storefront, and has rearranged its layout. One of the bays is now more of a traditional retail store, the second bay is now more of a traditional art gallery, and the other two bays remain like the old Componere. The owner is very pleasant and knowlegable. It is a zero-pressure environment for looking at art.
One of the hidden secrets of Componere is a store within the store — a custom frame shop run by Mark Florida. I've had two works framed by him and he does a great job. He can also print reproductions of your artwork, such a photos, on his gallery-quality printer.
This is a well-established Art Gallery in the U City Loop that has the most unique artwork in the St.Louis area if not the whole state of Missouri. You would have to go to Chicago New York Los Angeles Etc defined another Art Gallery is put together is this one. Check out the metal artwork that I saw in this giant peace sign it's made out of copper and the crazy thing is it's not all that expensive they're very affordable.
